You know that stage where your toddler is just starting to want to do everything herself? Grab her own snack, feed herself, wander around the playroom like she owns the place? That is exactly where Ember is right now and honestly I am here for it. These blueberry banana oat fingers were made for exactly that moment. I pop one in her hand, she toddles off happy and independent, and I get back to doing my thing. No mess, no crumbling, no choking panic. Just a soft naturally sweet little bar she can hold all by herself and actually eat without my help.
That independence piece was honestly the whole reason I made these. But then I realized they are also genuinely delicious — soft and moist with wild blueberries in every bite, naturally sweetened entirely by ripe banana and packed with enough healthy fat from the olive oil, peanut butter and whole milk yogurt that she stays full for a real stretch of time. Not a handful-of-puffs-and-she-is-hungry-again situation. An actual satisfying snack.
The wild blueberries are worth calling out specifically — smaller than regular blueberries, they distribute more evenly through the batter and are much safer for little mouths. Plus they are loaded with antioxidants for her growing brain which as a mom I love knowing. The peanut butter and whole milk yogurt add healthy fats and protein that keep her fuller longer. And the banana does all the sweetening so there is zero added sugar anywhere in this recipe. The whole thing comes together in one bowl in about ten minutes and bakes in under 25. I make a batch on Sunday and we are set for the week.
Dipped in a little Greek yogurt they are even better. Ember thinks it is the greatest thing that has ever happened to her.

What You Need
Seven simple ingredients. No added sugar. Makes about 12 fingers.

- 1.5 cups rolled oats
- 2 medium ripe bananas, mashed — the spottier the better
- 3 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp natural peanut butter
- ⅓ cup whole milk yogurt
- ¾ cup frozen wild blueberries
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
- ½ tsp baking powder
How to Make It
1. Mash the bananas
Really mash them — you want them completely smooth with no big chunks. The riper and more spotted your bananas the sweeter and more flavorful your fingers will be. Almost black bananas are honestly perfect here.

2. Mix the wet ingredients
Add the olive oil, peanut butter, yogurt and vanilla to the mashed banana and stir until everything is well combined and smooth. It will look a little loose and that is fine.

3. Add the dry ingredients
Stir in the rolled oats and baking powder until evenly combined. The mixture will thicken up as the oats absorb the wet ingredients.
4. Fold in the blueberries
Fold in the frozen wild blueberries gently — straight from the freezer, no need to thaw. Do not overmix or they will bleed completely into the batter. A few purple swirls are beautiful.

5. Spread and bake
Line an 8×8 pan with parchment. Spread the batter evenly — it will be thick and moist. Bake at 350F for 18 to 22 minutes until the top is set and a toothpick comes out with just a few moist crumbs. Do not overbake — you want soft not dry.

6. Cool and cut
Cool in the pan 10 minutes then turn out onto a wire rack. Cool completely before cutting — this is what helps them hold together cleanly. Cut into long strips about 1 inch wide and 3 inches long. Perfect for little hands to grip.
Notes and Swaps
On the banana: The banana is doing all the sweetening here so ripe really matters. A barely yellow banana will give you a bland bar. A spotty almost black banana gives you natural caramel sweetness that makes these taste genuinely delicious.
On the wild blueberries: Regular blueberries work but wild blueberries are smaller, distribute more evenly and are safer for little mouths. They also have a higher antioxidant content than regular blueberries — great for growing brains.
On the peanut butter: Skip it if there is a nut allergy and add an extra tablespoon of olive oil instead. Sunflower seed butter is a great swap too.
On the yogurt: Whole milk yogurt keeps these moist and adds healthy fat. Greek yogurt works too — just adds a little more tang.
Butter swap: Melted butter works in place of olive oil, same amount. Gives a slightly richer flavor.
Serving idea: Dip in whole milk Greek yogurt for extra protein and creaminess — Ember is obsessed with this.
Storage: Airtight container in the fridge up to 4 days. Freeze individually on a tray then transfer to a bag for up to 3 months. Defrost at room temperature 20 minutes or microwave 20 seconds.
Toddler note: Soft enough to gum, sturdy enough to hold. These are designed for self feeding — perfect for 12 months and up. Always supervise your little one while eating.
